COVID-19: J&K records 3 more deaths in a day, toll 94 | KNO

Srinagar, June 27 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir recorded three Covid deaths in a day taking the total number of people who died of the deadly pandemic to 94 in the Union Territory. Among 94 deaths, 83 were reported from Kashmir and 11 from Jammu division. The three patients who were tested positive for covid-19 and died in last 24 hours include 70-year-old male from Mishipora, Kulgam, 45-year old lady from Batengoo area of South Kashmir's Anantnag district who died at SKIMS and a 70-year-old lady from Sopore who died at SMHS. A doctor at the Chest disease hospital said that a 70-year-old patient died of Covid-19 infection at the hospital after he was tested positive for the deadly pandemic. “He had a few underlying medical conditions,” he said. Dr Farooq Jan, Medical Superintendent SKIMS Soura told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that a 45-year old lady from Batengoo, Anantnag district who was suffering from diabetes, hypertension, community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) and other ailments died at SKIMS on Saturday morning. He said that the patient was on a ventilator and was tested positive for covid-19 on Friday. Pertinently Batengoo village is under medical block Kulgam and as per revenue, it is under Anantnag district. Dr. Nazir Choudhary, Medical Superintendent at SMHS told KNO that a 70-year-old lady from Sopore who was admitted on June 25 at SMHS died on June 26. "Her sample was taken and was tested positive after her death," he said, adding that she was COPD patient and was also suffering from pneumonia. With their death, the death toll in J&K due to COVID-19 has reached to 93 including 82 from Kashmir division and 11 from Jammu division—(KNO)
